Citizen-led personal assistance (BPA scheme)

Citizen-led Personal Assistance, BPA, gives you the opportunity to hire people to give you practical and personal help in everyday life.

To receive a BPA scheme, you must have a significant and permanent physical or mental disability that requires extensive assistance, or have a need for assistance and support that cannot be met based on the other provisions of the Service Act and/or other legislation.

What requirements are there for citizen-led personal assistance?

The BPA scheme requires that you can act as an employer and supervisor for your helpers.

However, you can transfer the subsidy to a close relative, a company or an association that will be the employer of your helpers. It is an essential requirement that you can act as a supervisor in your scheme.

You must be over 18 years old, but there is no upper age limit so you can continue with this type of help after you turn 67 years old.

How do I apply for citizen-led personal assistance?

If you wish to apply for citizen-controlled personal assistance, you must contact the Authority for Care Centres and Contracts in Sønderborg Municipality. See the contact box at the bottom of the page.

You can read more about a BPA scheme and what it contains in our handbook below.
