Residential institution Gelerts Gård

Gelerts Gård is Sønderborg Municipality's Center for Acquired Brain Injury.

Gelerts Gård consists of a residential facility, an activity and social service facility and a team of employees who provide social and educational support to citizens with acquired brain injury throughout the municipality of Sønderborg.

Gelerts Gård is located in Nybøl, 8 km from Sønderborg, 6 km from Gråsten and close to the forest and beach.

How do you live at Gelerts Gård?

The house is built on one level, with 6 terraced houses located separately from the main building.

In total we have 36 homes, of which 2 homes are assessment sites. All homes are 2 bedroom apartments with bathroom and toilet. However, they differ in the number of m3.

The residents are divided into 4 living groups/departments. Each living group has a kitchen/family room and a living room. 

We have two rooms with the possibility of both massage and mindfulness/wellness activities.  
We have a gym with various tools such as treadmills and NU-step machines, as well as exercise bikes.
The activity and social facilities have their own premises, including a large common room, a small training kitchen, a music room, the possibility of workshop activities and the possibility of using the Exercise Room.

There is a very large outdoor area that is used by both the Activity and Social Services and the residents of the residential facilities. Of particular note here is the Courtyard, where there is opportunity for both coziness and activity - and our large campfire hut, which also has space for wheelchairs.
In addition, meeting rooms and administration.

The daily life of each resident is very individually planned - based on the resident's wishes and previous life.

How do you eat at Gelerts Gård?

It is possible to participate in a meal plan when you live at Gelerts Gård.

We have our own commercial kitchen where the hot food is prepared and where special diets are prepared, such as diets for diabetics and those with dysphagia.
