Twice a year, Danish citizenship is granted to new citizens. If you are applying for citizenship, you must also attend a constitutional ceremony.

If you have applied for Danish citizenship and are granted it, you must participate in a constitutional ceremony. At the constitution ceremony, you must sign a declaration that you will comply with the Constitution of the Kingdom of Denmark and respect basic Danish values ​​and legal principles, including Danish democracy.

What should I bring to the constitutional ceremony?

For the ceremony, simply bring photo identification.

What type of ID can I bring to the constitutional ceremony?

Identification with photo must be one of the following:

  • Residence card, alien passport, convention passport or driving license issued by a public authority in Denmark.
  • Passport, identity card or driving license issued by a public authority in another EU/EEA member state or in Switzerland.
  • Passport issued by a public authority in a country other than an EU/EEA member state or Switzerland, and in which a residence sticker is inserted.
