Driver's license

Always remember to bring:

• Valid identification in the form of the current physical driver's license
  If the driver's license is lost, bring a valid passport or identity, birth or baptism certificate and health card
• Driver's license picture (passport picture)

Driving license picture

You can choose a photographer and have a photo delivered or have a photo taken at Borgerservice in connection with the issuance of a driver's license. It is done digitally and costs DKK 130. The image is not handed out, but stored electronically.

It takes up to 3 weeks before the new driving license lands in the mailbox, unless you want to pick it up at Citizen Service.

You only need to bring a medical certificate and a photo to renew your driving license if your driving license is limited in time or you have a driving license for group 2.

If the medical certificate is to be sent to the Swedish Transport Agency, there must be a waiting period before your driving license is ready.

Valid EU driving licenses can be exchanged via sonderborg.mitpas.dk. Select 'Apply for driving licence', log in and under 'Reason' you can write 'Exchange of driving licence'.

All other driving licenses require a medical certificate before the self-service solution sonderborg.mitpas.dk can be used.
