Flag days

Why do we hoist the flag? See which days Sonderborg Municipality raises Dannebrog (the Danish flag).

Flags are flown at the town hall in Sønderborg. At the municipality's schools, institutions and nursing homes as well as other buildings where there is currently a flagpole, flagging is encouraged on flag days.

The flag will be hoisted on the following days in 2024:

Danish flag times
  • Never raise the flag before 8.00 am and hold it down at sunset at the latest.
  • On days when the sun rises after 8.00 am the flag must first be raised at sunrise.
  • The flag must never be hoisted after sunset.
  • The flag must be lowered well before sunset if it is most convenient.
