Flag days
Flags are flown at the town hall in Sønderborg. At the municipality's schools, institutions and nursing homes as well as other buildings where there is currently a flagpole, flagging is encouraged on flag days.
The flag will be hoisted on the following days in 2026:

The flag at the Old Town Hall is ALWAYS raised at 08:00 AM.
There must always be a Dannebrog stand on the flagpole if the flag is not hoisted.
On special days/events, flags must be flown at the Town Hall and in front of the fountain. The security center will be notified of this via email at vagtcentral@sonderborg.dkThis will be announced at least 1 day in advance.
The flagging is a priority task. Should an urgent situation arise where OSE cannot carry out the task, Kim Jepsen can be contacted at 26 33 64 35.

Flying at half-mast is done by first raising the flag to the top, where it remains for a few seconds, and then lowering it to half-mast.
When the flag is to be lowered, it is first hoisted all the way to the top, where it remains for a few seconds, after which the lowering takes place. - Danish flag times

- Never raise the flag before 8.00 am and hold it down at sunset at the latest.
- On days when the sun rises after 8:00 a.m., the flag must not be raised until sunrise.
- The flag must never be hoisted after sunset.
- The flag must be lowered well before sunset if it is most convenient.
- The flag must not touch the ground at any time during hoisting/lowering.
