Grants for the improvement of housing or community centers
If you live in a town of less than 4.000 inhabitants in a rural area, you can apply for grants for improvements to your home (built before 1960) or community center.
Grants are only given for initiatives that supports the building's architecture (materials, colors, etc.).
There are two annual application rounds. The deadlines for submitting an application are:
- on 20 January 2023
- on May 14, 2023
- Who can apply for housing improvement grants?
-
You can apply for the grant if:
- You are the owner or co-owner of a home built before 1960 and live in the home
- You sit on the community center board for a community center in a rural area
- What can I apply for a grant for?
-
For homes built before 1960, you can apply for a subsidy for:
- conditions in the home, which are in very poor condition, where an improvement rectifies the problem. The building must then be generally healthy and habitable.
- energy-enhancing measures. The home must have prepared an energy label that contains proposals for energy improvements
For community centers, you can apply for grants for:
- energy improvement measures proposed in an energy labeling report
- establishment of accessibility measures (eg accessibility for people with walking difficulties and wheelchair users);
- remediation of conditions which are in very poor condition
- What are the criteria for applying?
-
- grants are only given for measures that strengthen and preserve the original architecture of the houses.
- Grants are only awarded in cases where no grant or support has been sought or obtained from other public bodies for the same task.
- grants are only awarded if the project has not started.
In addition, the following criteria apply to homes built before 1960:
- the house must be significantly worn
- the municipality always makes a specific assessment in connection with the application. The municipality assesses the significance for the local environment, architecture, the overall condition of the home and health hazards.
- if there is a need to prioritize between applications, the most needy homes will be given higher priority. In this context, distressed homes will be assessed on the basis of the overall condition of the building.
In addition, the following criteria apply to community centers:
- Grants can be applied for for the renovation of town halls and buildings with similar uses located in villages and rural areas. No subsidies are given for club facilities and the like, which are targeted at one or a few user groups.
- the municipality always makes a specific assessment in connection with the application. The municipality assesses the significance for the local environment, architecture and health hazards. In addition, the overall condition of the building and the possibility of ensuring the building's continued use are assessed.
- if there is a need to prioritize between applications, the most needy meeting houses will be given higher priority. In this context, the needy must be understood as the overall condition of the building.
- Does my building / home have to be worthy of preservation to receive support?
-
No, it is not a prerequisite that your building is worthy of preservation to obtain support from this pool. If the building is worthy of preservation, you can apply for support via the municipality building improvement committee.
- How do I apply for a grant?
-
You apply via the link "Apply for a grant" at the top of the page.
- How much can I get in support?
-
Applicants can receive up to 40% in grants. You must submit vouchers for work performed as well as photo documentation to get the grant paid out.
In addition, for homes built before 1960, you can receive a maximum of DKK 100.000 in subsidies for the same property within a period of two years.
Grants are not granted for works where the total cost is less than DKK 10.000.
