Knowledge City Sønderborg

The goal of VidensBy Sønderborg is to create a strong and coherent educational area in Sønderborg Municipality, where children and young people experience meaning and quality in their everyday lives.

Knowledge City Sønderborg functions as a development and competence center for schools, day care centers, youth education programs, companies and the municipality. Through close collaboration, initiatives are developed and implemented that strengthen children and young people's learning, well-being and future opportunities.

Knowledge City Sønderborg creates the framework for cross-functional collaborations; among other things, through network management, projects and development courses for teachers, educators and management.

As a citizen, you may encounter the results of VidensBy Sønderborg's work through new initiatives at your child's school, in the daycare center or in collaborations between school and business, also called open school. VidensBy Sønderborg focuses, for example, on green education, technological understanding and a good transition from daycare to school.

Knowledge City Sønderborg is also internationally oriented and has an Erasmus+ accreditation, which gives over 100 employees the opportunity to travel to Europe each year for job shadowing and skills development. At the same time, Sønderborg receives around 200 guests annually from other European countries, who both visit our schools and enjoy the city in their free time. This strengthens both professionalism, outlook and community and contributes to us living up to the vision of being a municipality with a world-class view.
