Preventive home visits

A preventive home visit is an offer that must ensure that you can maintain or improve your level of function and increase your security and well-being in everyday life.

A preventive home visit is an offer for you who live alone the year you turn 70 and for 65+ citizens who are at particular risk of having reduced physical, mental or social functioning. You will receive an offer in the year you turn 75 and again when you turn 80. You will then be offered an annual visit from the year you turn 82.

The home visit must ensure that you can maintain or improve your level of function and increase your security and well-being in everyday life.

What is a preventative home visit?

A preventive home visit is an individual conversation that takes place in your home or per. phone with a senior counselor.

The conversation is based on your everyday life, and we discuss the topics that are important to you in relation to maintaining a good everyday life. These can be topics such as how you manage activities in everyday life, your life situation, your well-being, loneliness and social network, diet and nutrition, housing conditions and considerations for the future or health and attention to signs of illness. The senior counselors also advise and guide on health and inform you about activities and social offers in the local area.

The senior counselors can not grant home help or aids, but can work with you to find out who is the right person to talk to in your situation.

Who is not offered a preventative home visit?

You will not be offered a preventive home visit if you receive both personal and practical help from home care.

Can I apply for a preventive home visit myself?

The senior counselors encourage you to get in touch if you know someone in the target group 65+ who you think might need a preventive home visit. Maybe it's a change in behavior, decreased energy or zest for life, increasing isolation or other circumstances that worry you.

You can contact us anonymously with your concerns.

The municipality's senior counselors also have the opportunity to participate in events that take place in your local area and have a preventive or health-promoting aim.
