Snow removal and slippery road control

Read about how the municipality maintains roads, sidewalks, paths in winter and watch webcams from roads and bridges on Als.

Sønderborg Municipality has many roads, paths and parking spaces. When winter comes, Sønderborg Municipality in collaboration with the Police has therefore prioritized roads and paths according to the importance they have for keeping traffic going. This means that selected roads and paths are cleared first, while others have to wait or may not be cleared at all.

Which roads / lanes are cleared of snow?

  • Service level 1 - Passages (red):
We strive to keep the roads passable without significant inconvenience at any time of the day. We carry out preventive anti-slip measures. In the event of snowfall, we start clearing when snow has fallen, which makes it difficult to stop the traffic.
  • Service level 2 - distribution routes (blue):
Salting and snow removal is carried out only between kl. 5.00 and 18.00. Salting is performed as far as possible as preventive salting. We clear snow by drift formation or 5 to 8 cm even layer.
  • Service level 3 - Local roads (green):
Salting and snow removal is only performed on weekdays and within normal working hours from kl. 7.00 to kl. 15.00 to the extent that crew and equipment are available.
  • Service level 4 - Other roads (yellow):
Salting and snow removal are only done exceptionally.

Roads that are not marked on the map in the link are, for the most part, state roads or private public roads, and are not covered by municipal snow removal and anti-slick roads.

On state roads, it is the Directorate of Roads that carries out winter control.
