Talent classes at Alssund School

The talent classes are Alssund School in Sønderborg for sports talents who are in 7th, 8th or 9th grade in Sønderborg Municipality, and who want a daily routine in elementary school that allows space for both sports and school.

Students in the talent classes have the opportunity for a strong connection between their leisure interests, sports and school and can develop their talent while having an academically challenging schooling.

The start of the talent classes is in August 2025 and applies to the school year 2025/2026.

Why should my child attend a talent class?

As a student in a talent class, your child will receive:

• a strong focus on both academic and sporting aspects
• training 4 times an hour and a half a week as part of the school schedule
• option to purchase breakfast or lunch on training days
• opportunity to become part of an environment with other students who are passionate about their sport
• help to make a daily routine with many training hours and schooling coherent
• education and guidance on nutrition and injury prevention
• access to physiotherapist
• training of dedicated and specialized trainers
• a clothing package with shorts, t-shirt, hoodie, water bottle and a bag

Is there an entrance exam to be considered for a talent class?

To be considered for a talent class, the student must:

• be active in a sports club in Sønderborg Municipality
• be designated by the athlete's club as a talent with potential for development
• have a high training volume during the week

In connection with the assessment of the applications, trial training and individual interviews will be held.

How are the talent classes composed?

The talent classes are for students in 7th, 8th or 9th grade in Sønderborg Municipality, who may have previously attended another primary school.

There will be a minimum of 15 students in the classes, all of whom have a sporting talent that is developed and optimised during their schooling. As a student, you will therefore meet like-minded people who are very passionate about their sport and may eventually have the ambition to become professional athletes.

We collaborate closely with Sønderborg Talent Academy.

What facilities are there for students in the talent classes?

At Alssund School we have almost all the right facilities for developing sports talents. As a neighbor to Humlehøj Hallerne, we have a swimming pool, various sports facilities, our own gym, football pitches, etc., which the students can use.

To develop your child's sporting talent, we create individual training packages, and hire coaches and instructors to strengthen your particular sport. And of course, this will happen in close collaboration with the sports club where the student normally practices their sport.

Is professionalism being compromised in the talent classes?

In the talent classes, there will be both normal schooling corresponding to the level your child is at, which is matched with lots of sports, mental training, nutrition, and more that can develop your child both physically and mentally.

Are there additional costs associated with being a student in a talent class?

If the student is accepted into a talent class at Alssund School, there are no additional costs.

However, it is possible to purchase breakfast and lunch.
