BROEN Sønderborg is an association (founded in 2012) whose purpose is to support vulnerable children so that they have the opportunity to pursue leisure interests on an equal footing with all other children.

BROEN Sønderborg is a voluntary, unpaid support association and is part of BROEN Denmark. We help children whose parents do not have the social or financial resources for their children to participate in leisure activities in clubs and associations. We work to give these children the opportunity to have an active leisure life on an equal footing with all other children, where they can create social relationships and the opportunity to meet adults with great personal strengths.

BROEN Sønderborg works together with municipal employees, coaches, leaders in the associations and many more who work closely with these children and young people on a daily basis.

In 2024, the association supported 80 children and young people throughout the municipality in an active leisure interest and a good community with other children and young people.
It is municipal employees who have daily contact with children and who know their circumstances who contact us, but anyone who knows a child who needs an active life can contact us. In order to offer a child our offer, it is important that we have the parents' consent. If you are a municipal employee, you MUST start by obtaining a declaration of consent from the child's parents/guardians. When there is consent from the parents, the application form is completed via the association's website and sent together with the declaration of consent to BROEN Sønderborg. We would like to point out that the application must be completed digitally and sent as either a Word or PDF document.

The purpose of Karrusellen is to support vulnerable and at-risk families with children in Sønderborg Municipality through a second-hand store in Nordborg that offers clothing and equipment for children.
The profits from the store go to activities that help these families. The store is run by volunteers who work hard to sort, wash, iron and organize the goods, as well as decorate windows, keep clean and do administrative work.
We want to connect with families in need through collaboration with professionals such as health visitors and midwives, and offer help in the form of gift certificates and Christmas packages.
In addition to the shop, the volunteers participate in social events such as volunteer parties and New Year's cures to strengthen the community. Together, they create a cozy atmosphere, with a focus on the fact that a good thrift store smells of washing powder and coffee.

About LGBTQ+ Sønderborg:

LGBTQ+ Sønderborg is an active and inclusive association that was founded in February 2022 with the aim of creating a strong network and safe environment for LGBTQ+ people in Southern Jutland and Northern Germany. The association works to promote equality, visibility and acceptance of diversity through social events, political engagement and community.

Purpose and values:

LGBTQ+ Sønderborg has a vision to create a society where everyone – regardless of gender, identity and sexuality – feels welcome and accepted. The association emphasizes respect, inclusion and security and offers a community where diversity is at the center. In August 2022, the association held the first official Pride Week in Sønderborg, which included three days of events, including the city's first official pride parade. In order to create a safe and discreet environment for LGBTQ+ people, the association has been allocated a permanent location at Kasernen in Sønderborg for the next two years. This "safe space" gives members the opportunity to participate in events without fear of being recognized or exposed.

Pride Weeks and visibility:

LGBTQ+ Sønderborg has held several successful Pride Weeks, including the expanded Pride Week in August 2023, which spanned six days and was the largest in Denmark outside of Copenhagen. In August 2024, a new Pride Week was held with a focus on dialogue and collaboration across society.

Membership and community:

LGBTQ+ Sønderborg offers membership to both full-paying and supporting members. As a member, you get access to discounts on local events and support for the association's work. Reading dogs - Sønderborg Municipality

A reading dog is a friendly and child-friendly dog ​​that listens patiently and with interest to the books that the children are reading. The reading dog has full focus on the child and does not correct or judge, even if the child reads incorrectly. This creates a positive and different reading experience that promotes both a love of reading and self-confidence.
The target group for this initiative is children in grades 1-5 who have cracked the reading code, but who experience challenges and lack motivation to practice their reading skills.

In Sønderborg and Augustenborg, reading teams consisting of dogs and their owners have been established, who voluntarily visit schools or local libraries to meet with the children. Here, the child has the opportunity to read aloud to the reading dog for 20-30 minutes. After reading, there is time to play with the dog and the opportunity to give it treats. The child can arrange to meet with their reading dog once a week, and a typical reading course lasts six weeks. When the course is completed, the child receives a diploma with a picture of themselves and the reading dog in recognition of their efforts.

Reading to a dog is a valuable alternative to reading aloud in class or to parents, which can often be associated with uncertainty and reluctance, especially for children with reading challenges. The reading dog gives the child the opportunity to practice reading in a safe environment, while at the same time experiencing that reading can be both enjoyable and fun.
The process with a reading dog supplements the teaching and reading guidance the child receives at school. For many children who complete a process with a reading dog, it becomes a turning point in their schooling, where their desire to read and their enjoyment of school significantly flourish.
If your child would like to read to a Reading Dog, please send an email directly to the volunteer coordinator in your region. In your email, please provide the following: the child's name, age and municipality of residence. The coordinator will then make sure to contact both the reading team, the school and the local library.

Do you want help with your math homework?

We offer a free math homework café every Tuesday from 16.00:18.00 PM to XNUMX:XNUMX PM at the Library in Sønderborg. The offer is open to students at all levels - from the oldest grades of primary school to youth education, vocational education and adult education.

We are a local association under the Mothers' Aid Foundation, offering experiences to pregnant women and families with children who need a local base through networking and exciting family activities. Our goal is to create spaces for local communities where children and parents can enjoy cozy and fun experiences together. We arrange activities such as excursions, cooking, outdoor activities, playrooms and birthday help.
Our focus is to strengthen families' relationships both internally and with other families, so that they create experiences and memories for life. All our activities are free, but require registration. Find more information on our Facebook page.
We cover the costs of the activities through donations and earnings in our store. In our store we receive and sell well-maintained children's clothing, toys and equipment for children aged 0-10 years. Everyone is welcome to donate used items or buy quality second-hand items at good prices.
The income from the store also supports the nationwide counseling work of the Maternity Aid Foundation.

The Night Ravens of Sønderborg are part of the Foundation for Social Responsibility and a non-profit association that, by walking mainly in the nightlife of Sønderborg city and in the surrounding towns, helps to create security and good contact with the young (and slightly older) in urban life. We are always ready for a chat on the street and we always have condoms and sweets in our pockets.
Even though we are called the Night Ravens, we are also on the streets at, for example, Culture Night, ring riding and concerts or, in short, wherever there is life and young people meet.

In Sønderborg municipality, Save the Child has a local branch that tries to make a difference every day for families who are particularly vulnerable.
Save the Children Sønderborg wants to support children's right to a good childhood through our experience clubs, where we create safe and inclusive communities together with the children's families. More and more families need help to arrange good activities and build networks with other families, and our goal is to be a guide in this work.

Each club has a volunteer club leader and a number of volunteers who help and support children in vulnerable positions in the local area. The purpose is to give children good, inclusive experiences and new communities, because all children have the right to a good and safe childhood.   
What these families have in common is that it is a respite from everyday life. 

We have three experience clubs:
“Children on the run” which is an effort that focuses on helping children and families with flight experience into safe communities in their new everyday lives by creating good experiences and togetherness between families.
In Save the Children Sønderborg we have two clubs under this banner. (The Ukraine group and "welcome to Denmark", which are primarily Syrian refugees.

“The Family Experience Club” is aimed at families with children aged 5-12 years.
The club's families meet once a month for fun activities and outings, such as picnics, summer camps, kite flying, cinema trips, fishing trips and much more. Sometimes the activities take place in the local area, and other times they go on excursions by bus.

Families can become part of Save the Children's Family Experience Club if they have children aged 5-12 and can answer yes to one or more of the following statements:

1. We are struggling with tight finances and therefore have to save on shared experiences, leisure activities, holidays, etc. with our children.
2. We lack energy and resources for our children, for example due to physical or mental illness, divorce or similar.
3. We have children who need to be part of a positive community with stable and secure relationships.

All groups meet once a month for activities, and an annual summer camp is also arranged for children, young people and families who are in socially, culturally or economically disadvantaged positions and do not have the opportunity to have the same holiday experiences as their peers. However, what is common to all summer camps is that you as a family are part of one of the three clubs mentioned above.

An association run by volunteers who have themselves been in a situation where it has not been easy to move forward and at the same time fight their way back to everyday life and a life where everything looks brighter. 

The experience of physical and psychological violence against women and children is a struggle for some to overcome, and to have an everyday life where the positive outweighs the negative.
We are an association with heart and space that offers women and their children the opportunity to have experiences and healthy relationships with others, as well as create memories that are positive and worth remembering. 

Through shared experiences, relationships and friendships are created between women and children: when we go on trips big and small together, for example a nice and exciting trip to the zoo or Legoland, or we simply have fun by the campfire, enjoying food and drinks, or a nice trip to the cinema.
We meet for cooking and eating together, game/cozy evenings with board games and card games, during the holidays and outside of the holidays there will be cut/paste/paint days where creativity can run free.

We offer an environment with like-minded people where you can feel safe, accepted and respected regardless of background, but with a common history where physical/psychological violence has been present.

We are an association that strives to ensure that both women and children have better well-being and an everyday life with smiles and positive experiences and with courage for more. Through the relationships that are created in an environment where you can feel safe and at the same time thrive, we hope to be able to contribute to a happy future.

Sønderborg Women's & Crisis Center is an offer for women who are exposed to stalking, violence or threats of violence in close relationships - physical, psychological, sexual or financial.
We are an independent association with few employees and a number of volunteer guards. Without these many volunteer women, the shelter would not be able to provide the necessary help to women who have been abused.

The crisis center is always looking for women who want to be part of this community. We offer the necessary training in the form of courses and lectures and invite volunteers to exciting events and excursions. Concepts such as inclusiveness, open-mindedness, respect and confidentiality are just some of the values ​​that characterize Sønderborg Women's & Crisis Center.

There is a need to cover approximately 1.000 crisis shifts per year. The crisis center is therefore particularly looking for women who have spare time and want to make a difference as a volunteer shift worker.
The shelter also has a children's group for the residents' children.
This group is also looking for volunteers, both men and women, who will give these children an opportunity to be children - even in a crisis situation.

Our primary goal is to organize events that reach the entire city as well as specific target groups that may have special needs. Behind the scenes, we meet approximately every 14 days from 14.00:17.00 PM to XNUMX:XNUMX PM in the House of Volunteering to plan and develop new events. Everyone is welcome here, and there is no obligation to attend – it is the desire and the shared drive that motivates us. We are also looking for volunteers to help during the events, especially if you want to contribute with physical work.
During the summer, we hold three mini-festivals, which are exuberant and joyful events for both vulnerable groups and the city's citizens in general.
Our activities range widely: creativity, planning, letter writing, distribution of materials, concerts, community singing, excursions, and much more. We love to create life and joy through music and community.
A special activity is Sunday Jam, which started as a simple jam session and has since developed into a music project with its own house orchestra. It has become a platform for vulnerable groups, volunteers, musicians, businesses and associations to meet, create and celebrate music together. TUBA Sønderborg is free therapy and counseling for young people. Too many young people go it alone with worries and challenges when their father or mother drinks or has drunk too much.
TUBA offers specialized therapy and counseling for young people between the ages of 14 and 35 who have grown up in families with alcohol or drug abuse. We offer both individual therapy and group treatment.

The UFL Club Sønderborg was established in collaboration with Unge For Ligeværd with the aim of creating equal conditions for all young people with special needs. The club is independent, apolitical and non-religious, and works to create activities and socializing for everyone who meets the goal and wants to be part of the community.
The club is a local meeting place where young people can strengthen their social and cultural interaction, while spreading awareness of equality. The club has existed since 2000 and regularly updates their activities on an open Facebook page/public group (UFL Sønderborg).
On club nights, there is the opportunity to watch movies, play games, billiards, darts and participate in other fun activities with other young people. Excursions and joint events are also arranged, including birthday parties, Christmas lunches and communal dining at restaurants.
The club has an active board and volunteer staff who work hard to ensure the club functions well. Thanks to support from the municipality and various foundations, the club can offer a wide range of activities, while being affordable for members.

The association was founded on March 7, 1943. The purpose is to represent the interests of pensioners towards the public and the authorities and to work to ensure that society gives pensioners the respect and recognition they are entitled to, so that pensioners have the best opportunities for life development and a secure existence within the legislation in force at any given time. There is training every Wednesday from 9.30-11.00 in Sydals-Hallen in Tandslet, every Thursday from 9.30-10.30 at Knøs' Gård and every other Friday there is outdoor training with Exercise in Nature.
The Gråspurvene train from September to Easter. All seniors – 60+ are welcome at the Gråspurvene for exercise and socializing. The price is 300 kroner for a year's membership of the Gråspurvene.

The shopping trip was established in 1997 with an important mission: to ensure that retirees from Hørup, Kegnæs, Skovby and Lysabild will have the opportunity to shop in the local area. We are here to support the less mobile pensioners who have challenges shopping for themselves - regardless of whether it is due to disability or other barriers.
Our volunteers are an essential part of this shopping trip. They pick up the participants from their homes and help them safely get on and off the bus. In the store, they are ready to assist with finding the desired items, bagging the purchases and ensuring that everything is brought out to the bus. After a successful shopping trip, we ensure that the participants are transported safely back home. Our volunteers are also helpful in bringing the purchases into the participants' homes and helping to place them in the kitchen.
To participate in the shopping trip there is a small fee of approx. 40-50 kroner per person per trip. We drive every Thursday to Skovby and Hørupsea, and there are also trips to Hørupsea ​​every Friday.

The association was founded on April 6, 1998 in Nordborg with the aim of spreading senior sports in the municipality. We are affiliated with the Danish Workers' Sports Association (DAI).
From September to May, we offer gymnastics and exercise as well as socializing to all seniors, who each participate with what they can, it puts a smile on their face.
Our Activity Program tells about several opportunities every Monday from 9.00:XNUMX am in Nord-Als Sports Center.
There is joint gymnastics for the first half hour, after which you can play badminton, do Gymstick, square dance, back gymnastics, hockey, curling, strength training or go to the gym in the hall according to our program.

From 10.30:XNUMX a.m., joint relaxation exercises will be done.
We have 8 volunteer instructors who take turns doing what they are responsible for. We are 130 members, 90 go to gymnastics, others swim and some cycle.
We have swimming from 11am to 12pm every Monday from September to May except during school holidays.

Every Tuesday all year round we have cycling trips on the program in all kinds of weather. We start from Langesøgården at 9.00:20 and cycle 25-12 km before we are home (coffee break included) around XNUMX:XNUMX - full-day trips can occur; but then they are agreed upon - and an annual cycling trip with an overnight stay is also arranged.

Sønderborg Husflidsforening has undergone a remarkable journey since the renovation of Reimer Skolen began in 2019. Although the period has been challenging with activities distributed across different locations, the association was finally able to welcome their new and beautiful setting in the basement of HR-Huset in September 2023. The association is run by 12 passionate volunteer instructors who are passionate about needlework, crafts and various craft disciplines.
With around 70 members, Sønderborg Husflid has a wide range of activities, ranging from woodturning and bookbinding to glass grinding, jewelry making, weaving and sewing - just to name a few.
The association has five groups dedicated to woodturning, which together number approximately 30 members. Each participant works on unique projects that include carving wooden pieces, violin building, bookbinding aids, woodcarving objects, and loom repair. Each group has between 3 and 8 participants. We also have a group that helps people with brain injuries.
In the old Reimerskole in Sønderborg, we offer classes in the morning, afternoon and evening, so there is always the opportunity to learn something new or improve your skills in the company of like-minded people.
The association is characterized by diversity, with many members over 60 years old, but there are also younger participants and children who come with their parents. Sønderborg Husflidsforening is not just a place for learning; it is a warm and welcoming community where new friendships flourish. One of the association's strengths is the mutual helpfulness, where experienced members are ready to support and inspire others, so that everyone can get started and develop their skills. The volunteers who participate in this meaningful effort call on a regular schedule and wish those registered a good day, while happily confirming that they have gotten out of bed safely. This simple gesture can have a great impact on the elderly, who often have limited social contact with others.
Every conversation is an opportunity to listen, share a smile, and create a sense of community.

Velo Team Gråsten is a cycling association for those of you who love cycling and want to cycle with others.
We are an association of primarily retirees who enjoy cycling together.
Every Tuesday and Friday at 9 am we cycle out from Ahlmannsparken in Gråsten. In the winter we cycle 25-40 km per trip with short breaks along the way. In the summer we train up to ride longer trips and like to bring a small packed lunch to be enjoyed in a beautiful place. The conversation goes on while we cycle.
In the summer, the tours have a historical input. Among other things, we will see all the churches in our area.

What do our volunteers do?
Our volunteers - who are an important part of the shopping trip:

• picks up participants at their homes in Kværs/Tørsbøl, Egernsund, Adsbøl, Rinkenæs and Gråsten
• helps participants get on and off the bus safely • assists in the store by finding items, packing the purchases in bags and bringing them out to the bus
• ensures that participants are driven home safely after shopping
• helps bring the purchases into the participants' homes and place them in the kitchen

There is a small fee of approximately 40-50 kroner per participant per trip. Please note that there are no trips between Christmas and New Year.

The shopping trips are open to all retirees in the area. Our volunteers will pick you up from home and bring you back safely when your shopping is complete. They are available to assist you every step of the way – from finding the right items in the store, to packing them in the shopping bag and bringing the items home to you.
It costs DKK 200 per month to participate in the shopping scheme. With this membership you not only get help with your shopping, but also the opportunity to socialize and meet others in your local area. After a seven-year hiatus, we at the Alzheimer's Association are proud to re-establish our local chapter in Southern Jutland. We cover the areas of Haderslev, Tønder, Aabenraa and Sønderborg, and we work closely with dementia coordinators and local politicians to ensure that the voices of our members and relatives are heard.
Our mission: To create a dementia-friendly community and break down the taboos that often surround dementia. We focus on our members and their caregivers, and we offer a range of activities and events that can strengthen the community and provide support.

The association was founded in August 1975. The purpose is to raise funds to support the physically and mentally disabled in the municipality. Funds are raised by holding a lottery. The surplus is used for Christmas gifts, subsidies for trips and excursions, and for various materials that the centers and workshops need.

The association holds lottery games every Monday in Egen Forsamlingshus in 8 Guderup.

Friends of the Disabled has approx. 15 volunteers aged 30 – 70 years. Of these, 5 are board members and 2 are alternates. There is no specific requirement for how much time the volunteers spend. Some meet regularly every Monday and others come approx. 5 hours every 3 weeks. Others again have approx. 5 hours every 6 weeks. Our helpers are often recruited from among the participants in the lottery games.

Maybe you know the feeling of being stuck? That situation where you're faced with a problem, but instead of taking action, you just end up staring blankly at it. It may seem like we think the solution will appear on its own if we just look at the problem long enough. But often it takes courage to reach out and accept help from others.
The small challenges that once seemed manageable can suddenly feel like insurmountable mountains. But life goes on, and there will come a time when you can get up.

In the parachute there is room to listen, and together we may be able to find ways through the problems you are facing. The goal is to create a safe space where everyone can talk openly about the challenges they face in everyday life. Here there should be an opportunity to experience a community that spans all genders and age groups.

In this group you can get help finding solutions, or you can offer your support to others. The group meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month except July and August.

We hope that the people who come to Parachute will feel that they have found a safe place to land. A place where we can support each other in living a dignified life, and where positivity is always in focus.

Klub Als is a club in Sønderborg Municipality, dedicated to people with reduced physical or mental functioning. The club's purpose is to create a community where members can meet and build relationships with like-minded people. To become a member, you must be 15 years of age or older.
The club encourages members who are willing and able to get involved and take part in the association's activities. The purpose is to promote joy in life among members based on their individual opportunities and resources, while also involving them in the club's activities and operations.
On a typical club night there will be music from the club's own disco or live band. Activities such as banco, barrel-beating, bowling, harvest festival, ring riding and Christmas party are arranged annually. Payment for these events is partly by self-payment with a subsidy from the club. On the club nights a communal meal is offered from 18.00:18.30 PM to XNUMX:XNUMX PM.
The club's kiosk offers a selection of sweets, chocolate, chips, coffee and soda, and in the middle of the evening you can buy sausages with bread.

Targeted efforts are being made to prevent and combat lung diseases and improve the quality of life for lung patients.

Our patient association offers support to all lung patients and makes targeted efforts in relation to chronic lung diseases such as COPD (smoker's lung). The goal is to protect the lungs of all Danes from harmful substances, including passive smoking and particle pollution from traffic and wood-burning stoves.

Network Group South covers the municipalities of Tønder, Haderslev, Aabenraa and Sønderborg.

We are a group of people with lung diseases close to their lives. We are lung transplant recipients, waiting list patients, COPD patients and relatives who meet once a month to help and support each other in a positive way.

The group has existed for 10 years. We come from several places in Southern Jutland.

The Danish Kidney Association is an open patient association and interest organization that aims to represent the interests of kidney and urinary tract patients, relatives and donors.

The organization was founded in 1975, and today has approximately 5.500 members divided into 16 districts, of which South Jutland is one.

In the Southern Jutland district, started in 1988, we have approximately 240 members, divided between patients, relatives and support members.

Quality of life. We encounter life in all its forms, in the form of hope, sadness, joy, frustration, courage, etc. Therefore, we insist on quality of life and joy of life; but we also take life seriously when it seems hopeless and meaningless.

 Proximity. For us, proximity is very important, which is why we have a strong local commitment and close personal contact, both with Dialysen (the hospital) and with patients and relatives.

OMBOLD: An inclusive football community for adults in vulnerable positions

OMBOLD is a change-making and inclusive football community for adults (+18 years) who are in vulnerable positions. This includes people struggling with challenges such as abuse, homelessness or mental vulnerability. Through our activities we create a platform for positive development that promotes both physical and mental health. At OMBOLD there is room for everyone, regardless of gender, age or football skills.

Since 2003, OMBOLD, in collaboration with citizens, institutions and municipalities, has developed effective methods to engage people in vulnerable positions. Our goal is to integrate them into positive football communities that can create life changes for the individual. Through football and community, participants experience significant improvements in their health, management of abuse and combating loneliness.
To engage as many socially disadvantaged people as possible, OMBOLD has developed several successful concepts that focus on football. Everyone who participates in OMBOLD is either passionate football players or volunteers who contribute to local communities.

After cooking, we enjoy the food in cozy surroundings, where conversations flow freely – from funny and entertaining anecdotes to deep, inspiring reflections. The purpose is to create a community where you feel seen, heard and empowered in your role as a caregiver.

If you sometimes feel lonely with your pain and need to share experiences and find support from others who are facing similar physical and mental challenges, you are most welcome to visit the Pain Cafe.
It can be challenging for others to understand what it means to live with chronic pain. Many of us often encounter prejudice and misunderstandings, which can make it lonely and difficult to navigate everyday life. We end up constantly having to explain our situation, which often results in a feeling of powerlessness and inadequacy.

In the pain café you will have the opportunity to meet like-minded people and become part of our network group, where we mutually support each other based on our common struggles. We believe that unity can make a difference.
On a typical café day, between 5 and 12 people without relatives participate. However, relatives are invited 2-3 times a year, which results in a significantly higher number of participants on these special days.  

We hold our café events at Frivillighedens Hus, typically lasting one hour depending on need, from 15.00:16.00 PM to XNUMX:XNUMX PM. The Pain Café is an independent community that offers a safe and confidential space where there is room for both fun and seriousness.
Our motto is: "We're not here for fun, but it must be fun to be here."
We take pride in giving you a warm welcome, so that as a new member you can feel safe and comfortable. Here you can participate at your own pace and in your own way – with us there are no "right" or "wrong" ways to be.
The key words here are SEEN, HEARD and UNDERSTAND, and most importantly, we encourage you to listen to your own limits, whether they are physical, social or mental.

The neighborhood mothers are women with ethnic minority backgrounds who support other women who either lack networks or have difficulties with the Danish system.

Neighborhood mothers provide an important link between isolated or vulnerable women and the local community. They can reach women who are difficult for the public sector to reach. These women often lack networks, are not very familiar with society, have challenges with the Danish language and distrust the municipal system.

The neighborhood mothers can build trusting conversations with women because of their native language, experience of being new in Denmark, and knowledge of the local area.

Every month, the Neighborhood Mothers hold an open café where women can come and get a chat or help. They also organize local activities where all women can participate.

Neighborhood mothers have a Mothers' Café every Friday in collaboration with the Red Cross, from 10 am to 12 pm on odd-numbered weeks and from 16 pm to 18 pm on even-numbered weeks.

The neighborhood mothers combine their personal knowledge with factual knowledge about various topics such as family life and municipal services, which they have learned in their basic education. They share this knowledge with other women so that they can make choices that suit them.

The neighborhood mothers support families in taking responsibility and engaging in society. They visit families, help schools and arrange activities for women and children.

The association has existed since 1865, but was dissolved in 1920 and re-established on January 08, 1923. The association was originally an association of women, but today anyone interested in contributing to the association's purpose is welcome as a member.

The association's purpose is to provide community service. This is achieved through support for, among other things, families and the elderly, and by offering social gatherings for people of all ages.

The association is responsible for the establishment of the Mariaheim Foundation, which runs Mariaheim, a property that was inaugurated in early 1965, and which, among other things, contains 14 rentals for single people. The association arranges gatherings about 2 times a month. These are held in the meeting room at Mariaheim, and the program can include, for example, readings, lectures, fashion shows, conversations and friendly chats or similar. Every year, a traditional Advent party with a tombola is arranged. The Danish Refugee Council supports refugees and internally displaced persons throughout their entire journey. From the crisis, through exile and settlement in a new country, to integration and continued support after returning home.

The local volunteer group in Sønderborg offers, among other things, an assistant arrangement, so you can bring a companion with you to, for example, meetings with the municipality or other places where you would like a little extra support and the opportunity to talk about things afterwards.

The Church's Korshær has a Warming Room in Sønderborg, where we offer various services to the most vulnerable citizens. These can include debt counseling, guidance, help with meetings, a meal, a hot bath, clean clothes, a sofa and conversation, as well as help to keep people in their own homes. 
The social work in the heating room and on the street is financed by the income from our thrift stores, operating support from Sønderborg Municipality, as well as foundations and pools. 
A large part of Varmestuen's operations is the work of volunteers. We have 36 volunteers who help with cooking, errands, shopping, debt counseling, and social work, among other things. 

The shops in Sønderborg municipality are located at Borggade 5 in Gråsten, Storegade 21 in Nordborg, Storegade 25 in Augustenborg, Østergade 5 in Sønderborg and Stenager 15A in Sønderborg. They are run exclusively by volunteers throughout the country.

SOS Children's Villages works to give orphans and vulnerable children a safe childhood with a family, a loving home and an education. We give the children a foundation on which they can build their own future.

SOS Children's Villages in Denmark is a member of the umbrella organization SOS Kinderdorf International, which is headquartered in Innsbruck, Austria. SOS Kinderdorf International coordinates the aid and efforts in the 133 countries where SOS Children's Villages works. In this way, we ensure that the aid from many different donors and countries is as effective as possible. The money for SOS Children's Villages' many projects is raised through sponsorships and contributions.

The local group works to inform about and make the organization visible through participation in various events in the municipality and by holding events and lectures to raise money for earmarked projects.

The association's goal is to spread awareness of the ideas behind Hospice Sønderjylland.

The Youth Red Cross (URK) is Denmark's largest humanitarian youth organization, working for and with children and young people in both Denmark and internationally. We are a voluntary, social organization with over 10.000 committed members who are passionate about addressing the social challenges that children and young people face in society. We believe that everyone can make a difference and be something special for someone. Through our local, social activities, we give young people the framework to act and make a difference for each other.

An example of one of our activities is the Food Club in the Volunteer House, which is an offer for children and young people between the ages of 10-15 who are interested in cooking and lack a free space. The Food Club, run by approximately 10 committed volunteers, is open every Monday in odd weeks from 17.00:19.00 PM to XNUMX:XNUMX PM to give participants a positive cooking experience together with other young people.

Target group: Formerly deployed soldiers

Purpose: We are an association where we want to promote unity for previously deployed soldiers, and that being soldiers who have come out well from their deployment, but not least those soldiers who may have had to experience larger or smaller bumps in the road after returning home, where it has been difficult for some to adapt to civilian life.
We are an association for veterans, but you can also become a member as a supporting member. The majority of the activities that will come in the future are aimed at the veterans, but there will of course also be events where the supporting members can also participate. Furthermore, we are working on the fact that in the long term we can also support the veterans financially, for those who do not have too many means to do good. Nothing big, but for example a Christmas package etc.
We have close cooperation with the veteran coordinator for Sønderborg municipality. 
Activities: We have a “Veteran Café” 1-2 times a month. Various marches and other events for veterans are held. We will of course support various events in the municipality if possible.

The volunteers, who either have a financial background or similar experience, can help with budgeting, preparing repayment plans, negotiating with creditors, and general financial advice.

Good quality holistic counselling is offered. Some counselling sessions can be completed quickly, while others require follow-up support. The counselling takes place at Frivillighedens Hus.
